About the Artwork
The artist's brushwork is delicate and layered rather than precise. Facial features are suggested more than defined, allowing light and color to do much of the emotional work. Cool, pale blues in the woman's blouse contrast tenderly with the warmth of the surrounding tones, creating a balance between vulnerability and quiet strength.
